Memorial Day

Memorial Day Prayer by Mary Fairchilld

"Dear Heavenly Father,

As we remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom, we think of how they have followed in the footsteps of your son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. Please hold our service men and women in your strong arms. Cover them with your sheltering grace and presence as they stand in the gap for our protection.

We also remember the families of our troops, and ask for your unique blessings to fill their homes and your peace, provision and strength to fill their lives.

May the members of our armed forces be filled with courage to face each day and may they trust in the Lord's mighty power to accomplish each task. Let our military brothers and sisters feel our love and support.

In the name of Jesus. Amen."

Happy New Year!

To me, the New Year always brings mixed feelings and emotions-excitement about the things to to come, anxiety about the future, thankfulness for God's blessings in my life, regrets about the last year-the list could go on and on... In 2009, I pray that Catalyst could grow inward and outward. Lord, let us be Christian brothers and sisters, lifting one another up in prayer. Lord, let us also be witnesses and disciples for you, sharing your love and blessings with the world.

In 2009, I pray that everyone in this class be showered with blessings and remember the words to this old hymn:
I am weak but Thou art strong, Jesus keep me from all wrong;
I'll be satisfied as long, As I walk let me walk close to Thee!
Just a closer walk with Thee, Grant it Jesus, is my plea
Daily walking close to Thee, Let if be dear Lord, Let it be.

I would also like to add a special prayer request that has been on my heart since Friday evening, a prayer for the Romph family. They are members of my church back home in Missouri and I used to babysit for their older children. On Friday night, their 5 year-old daughter, Margaret, was in a horrific car accident that has left her paralyzed from the neck down and if she lives, she will be on a ventilator for the rest of her life. I ask that you all could lift her and her family up in your prayers, especially her older sister, Erin, who was driving the car at the time of the accident. There are thousands of people across the nation praying for her recovery, but she could always use a few more :) You may read about her-and see her precious pictures-on her website: www.caringbridge.org/visit/margaretromph Thank you all!

Blessings in the new year!

"Evening and morning and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud; and he shall hear my voice." Psalm 55:17

Veterans Day

Today we take a moment as a nation to honor Veterans who have served our country in the armed forces. We are blessed through the men and women who make huge and unimaginable sacrifices to protect our freedom and liberty. Lift them up in prayer today and continue to thank God for his protection of our nation.

Pray for:
-Their continued dedication to protect our liberties
-Their families who also make sacrifices
-The healing of those who were wounded in battle
-Peace for their hearts

Until next time, be blessed.

P.S. Did you know that Veterans Day is the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I?
